What I do

Dan Powell is currently Regional Coordinator for the South East for Code Club, a nationwide network of free volunteer-led after school coding clubs for children aged 9-11.

Dan joined Code Club in April 2015 after 15 years as a fundraiser in the health and social care sector.

He initially trained as an artist before moving into arts administration and was involved in London’s arts scene in the late 90s before moving to Brighton in 2000.

His current role involves supporting Code Club’s existing volunteers, forming partnerships with schools, companies and organisations and increasing awareness about Code Club’s work and how coding can enrich children’s lives.

Dan has had an interest in education and technology since his children started at school and is enjoying learning Scratch with his eldest daughter, as well as running his own Code Club.

Dan is involved in Brighton and Hove’s thriving arts and music scene as a practitioner and promoter and performs regularly across the south east. He also enjoys working on his allotment.
