What I do

Chantale is a Principal Researcher of Innovation Systems in the Innovation Mapping team. She contributes to the team’s work on producing timely and relevant maps of innovation ecosystems using new big and open data sources, data science methods, and visualisations. Chantale is a core member of the team working on EURITO, a three year project funded under Horizon 2020 that aims to generate a new wave of research and innovation (R&I) indicators that are more relevant, inclusive, timely, trusted and open than current indicators. She is also working closely with Nesta’s Health Lab and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation on a 15 month project to develop a ‘scanner’ to identify and map promising health innovations globally.

Prior to joining Nesta, Chantale was a Senior Analyst and Project Manager at Montreal based science and technology evaluation firm Science-Metrix. There, she led and contributed to a wide variety of research and evaluation projects, including three projects for the European Commission’s DG for Research and Innovation on topics ranging from gender equality to data mining for innovation policy. Chantale has also worked on several evaluations in global health and international development, including two for the African Development Bank.

Outside of work, Chantale enjoys travelling, photography and playing ice hockey. Chantale holds a BSc in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Alberta and a MSc in Public Health Nutrition from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
