What I do

Alex Smith is founder and CEO of North London Cares and South London Cares.

He was formerly an aide to Ed Miliband and editor of one of the biggest political websites in the UK, and has supported the creation of several small businesses and charities.

He is a governor at Holloway School and was a volunteer during the 2012 Olympics. Alex has been awarded two UnLtd social enterprise awards for his work founding North London Cares in 2011 and South London Cares in 2014.

Part of the Stories from Health Lab series - Since launching nearly two years ago, South London Cares, the sister charity of the successful North London Cares, is going from strength to strength. The Cares family are now thinking about what they have learnt from this expansion and what this means for 2016 and beyond.
