Research and Evaluation Lead, Digital Innovation Fund for the Arts in Wales
Dan Butler was the Research and Evaluation Lead for the Digital Innovation Fund for the Arts in Wales.
Dan’s professional background is in youth and community work. He has carried out evaluations of UK and Welsh Government programmes including interventions to improve educational outcomes for children in the youth justice system, to increase the engagement of fathers in child protection proceedings, and to widen access to business start-up schemes.
Prior to joining Nesta, Dan worked at the National Assembly for Wales as a member of support staff for Mark Drakeford, Assembly Member for Cardiff West and Minister for Health and Social Services.
Dan has a keen interest in the humanitarian field. He was previously on the national executive of Engineers Without Borders UK and is currently working towards membership of the disaster relief charity REDR.
He is also a passionate advocate for improving our public transport system and has been appointed to advise successive Welsh Government ministers, both Plaid Cymru and Welsh Labour, on transport policy.
Outside of work, Dan maintains a personal interest in the arts with two projects he organises with friends - a cultural festival and an online arts platform, Sleep/Walk/Listen.
