We're delighted to announce that five projects have been awarded additional funding totalling almost £900,000 through the Innovation in Giving Fund.

The projects - all of which get volunteers involved in solving some of the biggest social challenges - include Care4Care, a membership organisation where members spend a few hours a week supporting an older person in their community, and in return build up their own 'care pension'.

Also receiving additional funding is Apps for Good, an acclaimed technology education programme that teaches young people how to build mobile apps that solve real problems, with the help of professional volunteer coders.

All five projects were originally backed in the first round of the Innovation in Giving Fund, in April 2012. The £10m fund, backed by the Cabinet Office and managed by Nesta, supports ideas with the potential to significantly increase the giving of time, money, assets and skills to good causes.

Follow-on funding is earmarked for the most promising innovations, which our selection panel believe have the greatest potential to revolutionise giving in the UK.

Here are the five projects that have received funding and additional support through the Innovation in Giving Fund:

Apps for Good

Care4Care

GoodGym

Inspiring The Future

Tyze Personal Networks

Stay tuned for more follow-on funding announcements in the coming weeks...
