Applications are now open for the summer 2014 Bethnal Green Ventures programme. The accelerator programme is looking for ten ambitious early-stage tech ventures with new ideas to tackle social and environmental problems.

Bethnal Green Ventures is a one of Europe’s first social accelerator programmes that helps fund and develop tech-based solutions to the world’s social issues. The programme has supported 31 new teams, helped 88 founders quit their previous jobs, and raised £1.3 million of follow-on investments.

The next cohort of startups must have the potential to improve our world, whether by revolutionising healthcare, improving education, reducing carbon emissions or alleviating crime. Past successes include a smart hospital appointment app, a social impact exercise programme, and an ethically-built smart phone.

The teams accepted into this summer’s programme will receive an investment of £15,000, in exchange for 6% equity, and three months of intensive support from the BGV team, its large network of mentors and expert alumni. Also included is free office space in central London.

The deadline for applications is Monday, 12 May 2014. To apply or for more information, please go to the Bethnal Green Ventures website
