Patients Know Best is a web service that gives patients access to their medical data.

Patients monitor their own health and can choose to share their health data with family members, insurance companies or other doctors.

Why we like Mohammad

Dr Mohammad Al-Ubaydli is a medical techie revolutionising patient-doctor communication.

He co-founded Patients Know Best to get patients more involved in their own healthcare. Through a better understanding of their health records they can take steps to improve their medical treatment and general lifestyle.

The award-winning website is the latest success in Mohammad’s 15 year career of advancing medical software. He co-founded the Medical Futures Awards, a challenge scheme for innovation in medicine, and Medical Approaches, an organisation providing free peer-reviewed medical textbooks on handheld computers.

Mohammad qualified as a physician at the University of Cambridge and as an IT programmer at Anglia Ruskin University. He has worked as a doctor, researcher and hospital management consultant in the UK and the US. He has also written several books on using medical technology for better collaboration.

He is an honorary senior research associate at UCL Medical School, and is studying towards an MBA in Healthcare at Robert Kennedy College. In 2012, he was elected as an Ashoka social entrepreneurship fellow for his contribution to patient care.
