Mike trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse and became the Group Accountant for Thames Television PLC in 1990, being part of the management team that turned the monolithic former ITV franchise holder into a leading independent producer and distributor of Television programmes.
As its inaugural head of Finance, Mike helped establish the UK Film Council, integrate it's constituent bodies, create it's systems and policies and make it's initial investments in the development, production and distribution of films including Gosford Park, Bloody Sunday and The Magdalene Sisters.
In 2006 Mike established Northern Alliance Ltd, a Chartered Accountancy practice specialising in providing accounting and consulting services and business advice to public and private sector clients operating in the entertainment and media industries.
The Look, founded by Thomas Urbye, is recognised as one of the leading 2D & 3D picture post production companies in the UK. Its aim is to always deliver the best possible experience for its clients and also help entertain the millions of people who watch and enjoy its work.
Independently owned and working solely in post, The Look is proud to have been involved with some of the best drama, features and commercials in the world. In 2011, 2012 and 2013, drama series which it has ‘posted’ have won Best Drama at the BAFTAs & RTS Awards.
