For those who are ready to put innovation into practice, we offer a mix of resources and experiences to improve innovation skills and build confidence in using innovation methods and tools.

These range from toolkits and practice guides to workshops and tailored learning experiences.

What we're doing

  • Our DIY Toolkit brings together 30 tried-and-tested innovation tools to help to invent, adopt or adapt ideas that can deliver better results, while our series of practice guides provide actionable insight on getting started with a range of innovation methods - such as challenge prizes and innovation labs.

  • In addition to free-to-access content, we design interactive learning experiences that develop practical skills and enable participants to apply innovation within their own context. Building on the team’s expertise and Nesta’s wider work, these experiences range from one-day masterclasses to longer immersive programmes. Thematic areas covered so far include design thinking, data-driven innovation and evidence-based policymaking.

  • Recent examples include a five-day programme for civil servants in Singapore delivered with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Focusing on how design thinking can be used to generate new and better ways of addressing policy challenges. the course addressed key concepts of design thinking (e.g. user-centered approaches, visual thinking, prototyping), its process, and a selection of essential methods and tools.
