Young people and innovation
Increasing the UK’s capacity for innovation in the future means engaging today with the innovators of tomorrow. An important strand of NESTA’s work focuses on developing from an early age the innovative skills and attitudes – creativity, adaptability, teamwork and an informed view of risk – that underpin successful innovation.

Our involvement with young people, and the professionals and institutions working with them, represents our longest term investment and potentially the biggest rate of return. In practical terms, we believe that early experiences of engaging in innovative and entrepreneurial activities can give people the appetite for them later in life.
