Warp Films off to a flying start

"We hope that Chris Morris's quirky, funny and imaginative film will be seen by audiences the world over".

Warp Films is an off-shoot from the successful, leftfield music label, Warp Records, which includes artists such as Black Dog, Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin. NESTA's support, over three years, has gone towards the brand development of a new generation of visual entertainment with short films, shot on digital video (as opposed to 35mm) being primarily broadcast on the Internet and sold on DVD.

Since receiving the BAFTA award, Warp Films have sold more than 2,000 copies of the My Wrongs DVD in the first day of sales.

Jeremy Newton, NESTA's Chief Executive, says: "We are absolutely thrilled that Warp's debut has received such an accolade. NESTA was always confident that Warp would come up with the goods as they had demonstrated to us that they had a nose for unearthing truly innovative work. We hope that Chris Morris's quirky, funny and imaginative film will be seen by audiences the world over."

Producer, Mark Herbert, adds: "The film industry is dominated by the big distribution companies and that is stifling creativity. By discovering new voices untainted by the system, Warp Films has all the ingredients to produce the next generation of youth cult films."

My Wrongs 8245-8249 and 117was released by Warp Films exclusively on DVD on 24 February, priced £6.99.

Warp Records first collaborated with Chris Morris on his Blue Jam album, a compilation of sketches taken from the late night weekly Radio 1 show.
