What I do
Florence is a researcher within Nesta’s International Innovation team, which examines new global trends and practices in innovation, with an emphasis on emerging economies. The team’s work aims to build resources and networks for innovation that will help the UK to flourish in a rapidly changing global economy.
Florence’s work focuses on the role of innovation in developing countries. She is the programme manager for the Global Innovation Policy Accelerator, having worked with policymakers across Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. Other research interests include social incubation and intelligent cities.
Prior to joining Nesta, Florence worked as a Junior Associate at 21c Consultancy, an ICT innovation firm specialised in understanding how technology can improve public services, citizen engagement and government efficiency. Within that position, she worked on developing and executing dissemination strategies for several large EU-funded ‘smart city’ and ‘smart mobility’ projects.
Florence holds an MSc in Urban Policy from the London School of Economics and the Institute of Political Science in Paris. She wrote her Master’s dissertation on the use of Smartphone applications as tools for community involvement in urban contexts, looking at apps both in London and Paris. She is French, speaks fluent English and Spanish, and dreams she may one day master Tamil.
