Head of Data Discovery, Data Analytics Practice
Dr Cath Sleeman is the Head of Data Discovery.
Cath leads on projects that identify and fill gaps in data ecosystems. Her projects show the potential of novel data and methods to deliver new insights, and her work blends economics, data science and creative data visualisation.
Cath has successfully led collaborations with the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, the Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence, the Department for Education, and the Gatsby Foundation. She has worked with a large range of novel data sources, from organisations including the BFI, Burning Glass, the Guardian, the BBC and the Science Museum. For her work on creative data visualisation, she has won an Information is Beautiful Award, as well as awards from the Bank of England and 360Giving. She has been invited to speak at The Financial Times (data visualisation team), Google, Channel 4 (data science team), BBC (data science event) and the Cabinet Office (PMIU).
Prior to Nesta, Cath was a Gates Scholar at Cambridge University, completing a PhD in Economics. She has previously worked as a UK Economist at Morgan Stanley and as a Senior Economic Analyst at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
