Social Innovation Camp
Social Innovation Camp is an experiment in using social technology for social change. Over a single weekend, participants take initial ideas to tackle particular social needs and develop them into prototype solutions, using cutting-edge Web 2.0 tools.
The Camp brings together social entrepreneurs, web developers, designers and other specialists. The weekend finishes with a competition to decide on a winning project, which receives further start-up support.
Social Innovation Camp was held for the first time in April 2008 at the Young Foundation in London. It was won by Enabled by Design, an online resource for anyone looking to make adjustments to their lives, be it as a result of disability, injury or impairment.
In 2008/09, Social Innovation Camp will run its first full year of activity, which will include two main event weekends in December and June, and a number of evening sessions that will further support the growing community interested in using the social web for social means.
