We need a broad-based innovation policy that reaches beyond science and technology to embrace the 'hidden innovation' that occurs in all sectors of our economy and society.
Innovation is vital to the future economic prosperity and social well-being of mature economies such as the United Kingdom.
We need to invest in the intermediate skills that will allow us to effectively absorb and use the knowledge that we create, and that is increasingly created elsewhere.
