Innovation in services

These Innovation in Services reports cover innovation in five service sectors of the UK economy.

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) established five business-led Sector Innovation Groups (SIGs), in internet content services, logistics, retail, environmental services, and construction. Together, these sectors account for 25% of the UK economy.

The SIGs comprised 6-12 companies, advised BERR on the drivers of change in these sectors; the way innovation has developed; how it might be measured; the barriers to innovation; and the scope for effective government intervention.
