Public services innovation laboratory
NESTA's proposal for setting up a Public Service Innovation Lab was announced in the DIUS White Paper, Innovation Nation, published on 13 March 2008.
The Lab is envisaged as a ramping up of the work of the Challenge programme here at NESTA and would involve the establishment of a dedicated facility for accelerating solutions to the complex problems threatening societal well-being and economic competitiveness.
The Lab is founded on the conviction that major social problems will not be solved by the systems that produced them – it will be independent, multidisciplinary and take account of social and cultural drivers as well as professional knowledge, technology, finance and politics.
