Provocation launch- Beginning at the Beginning

London - 13 July

In the fourth of NESTA's Provocation series, Anthony Sargent and Katherine Zeserson examine and challenge the traditional place of creativity in UK society.

Recently, writers like the American urban studies theorist Richard Florida have developed the idea of the 'creative class' as the prime engine for urban regeneration. But who are the 'creative class', where does their creativity come from, and how can we join the class?

Anthony Sargent and Katherine Zeserson's paper argues that we are all members of the class - but we have forgotten our membership. How we forgot, how as a society we can turn that picture around, and how our economy would gain from that transformation are the subjects of 'Beginning at the Beginning.'
