Could you build a product or service with a social impact using open data?
The Open Data Institute and the Centre for Challenge Prizes at Nesta are running a series of seven challenge prizes to invite businesses, startups and individuals to develop innovative solutions to social issues using open data. We have run challenges in Crime and Justice, Education, Energy + Environment, Housing, Food and Heritage + Culture. The final challenge, Jobs is live and accepting applications until 30 March 2015.
For each challenge, teams will be invited to build and test their ideas at a creation weekend where three teams of finalists will be chosen to win £5000 each. After an incubation phase, one finalist win a potential £40,000 to £50,000 prize and a bespoke package of incubation support. Winning projects will be those which can combine open data into products or services with a clear social impact and a sustainable ongoing model.
