Vimeo uploading guide

Uploading your video for the Digital Makers Open Call for Ideas is simple and shouldn't take you very long. If you haven't used Vimeo before, it's a straightforward process to sign up and a basic account, which is all you'll need to submit your pitch, is free. All you need to do is enter an email address and password and you're ready to start uploading.

Step 1

When you've finished your video, save it somewhere easily accessible on your computer. Click on the upload menu at the top of the Vimeo site.

Step 2

Browse your files to find your video, click open and your video will automatically start uploading onto Vimeo. If you're using the free version of Vimeo your video may be held in a queue but don't worry, just leave the window open and come back to it later.

Step 3

While your video is uploading you can give it a title, description and tags under the Basic Info tab. Please ensure you use the search tag ‘Digital Makers’. However, make sure you do not navigate away from the page, or close the tab or window, otherwise the upload of your video will be interrupted.

Step 4

Make sure your video's privacy settings are set to public (shown in image below) so that we are free to view and embed your pitch on our website. We will also be making all videos publicly available to encourage collaboration and the sharing of ideas.

Step 5

Once your video has finished uploading it will start to process but will appear on the page as soon as it's ready. When it's complete, copy the video's URL and paste that into your application form.
