5. Personal Inquiry Project (UK)

Learning through Inquiry

In the Personal Inquiry Project, learners used netbook computers with software support to conduct scientific inquiries in different contexts such as classrooms, field trips, and the home. The technology enabled learners to carry out a variety of scientific investigations of personal relevance; one group of learners focussed on healthy eating, for example. The support and direction from the software was useful in alerting learners to, and helping to meet, the challenges of scientific investigation. The technology also helped teachers to support and guide students through different inquiry-based activities.
