Launched in September 2010, Respect4us is an alternative education provider and a community interest company. Staffed by educational professionals, it provides an alternative curriculum and way of teaching for secondary school children who have failed to make progress in the educational system.
Taking referrals directly from schools, it caters for young people who have stopped attending school, for those whose behaviour is too difficult for a school to manage, or for those who have been excluded from mainstream schooling.
Respect4us also takes young people out of their schools for one or more days a week to take part in learning experiences not normally found in the classroom.
Young people work on team projects to develop confidence and social skills. Each young person is individually mentored and has a tailored learning programme so that his or her particular needs are met. These programmes are developed in conjunction with teachers and parents.
Respect4us has limited grant or charitable funding and relies primarily on the revenue it generates from the work it does with schools.
