timto is a pioneering group gifting service that makes donating to charity an integral part of any celebration

Website: www.timto.co.uk

timto has created an engaging online gifting platform that enables people to celebrate, charities to fundraise and retailers to sell gifts.

Research has shown that more than 20 per cent of the gifts received at celebratory parties are never used, equating to £100 million per year of wasted expenditure.

Timto set out to find a fun way of helping redirect expenditure towards better gifts that are given collectively and a donation to charity.

Put simply, timto’s feelgood gift service enables celebrators of all ages to add their favourite charity to a gift list. The service caters for a wide range of occasions from children’s birthdays, surprise parties and office collections.

Friends and colleagues can contribute easily towards gifts that individually they would not be able to give, with the organiser deciding the beneficiating charity and the proportion of money that will be donated.

timto is already working in association with a number of well-known retailers and charities such as the children’s charity, Variety.

By providing a sustainable alternative to the small gift giving culture, timto aims to make it the ‘norm’ for people to give to charity when they celebrate a special occasion and be a catalyst for a more giving society.

The Award: timto has been awarded £150,000 to accelerate growth and develop collaborations to grow their model for a “celebrate and give” culture.
