This week is Social Media Week (18-22 February 2013), a global event showcasing the social, cultural and economic impact of social media. To mark the event we’re highlighting some the fantastic projects we’re supporting that are using social media for good. #SMW13
The projects listed below have all received funding through the Innovation in Giving Fund, which focuses on new ways to encourage people to give and share time, skills and resources as well as money.
#wewillgather
#wewillgather uses social networks to galvanise mass civic participation and action; a flashmob approach to taking practical action to improve your neighbourhood from the organisers of #riotcleanup.

Givey
Givey uses social technologies like sms and twitter to encourage people to support the causes they care about, track the impact they're having and connect with other people who also want to make a difference.

Blue Dots
Blue Dots are a new social currency used to reward people for volunteering, donating or 'liking' non-profits on Facebook. Blue Dots are saved and then redeemed for exclusive celebrity products, discounts, free tour tickets and work experiences at organisations like Facebook, Wired. All the good you do adds-up on a shareable 'good CV'. This shareable 'good CV' can then be displayed to the user's social media network, businesses and other organisations.

Good people
GoodPeople is a web-based talent platform - built on top of social technologies such as Twitter, Linkedin and Facebook - helping organisations attract people who want to use their skills to support the causes they care about.
Believe.in is an online platform where individuals can create a profile around their charitable identity, raise funds and rally support for the causes they care about.

Project Dirt
Project Dirt is a grass roots social networking site that enables people and organisations to give their time, expertise and resources to local environmental projects.
