Nesta in Edinburgh: Workshops

Taking an innovative idea into reality

In this panel session we will explore how to best support ideas from their initial thinking through to reality and look at the challenges along the way of prototyping, sustaining and scaling through to systemic change. This interactive session will provide the opportunity to consider the importance of digital and cross sector collaboration, involving social and creative entrepreneurs we have supported through our programme work in Scotland.

Contributors include Edinburgh City Council ( Sally Kerr), Safehinge ( Martin Izod and Phillip Ross), Young Scot (David McNeill and Gregor Urquhart) and Cultural Enterprise Office (Deborah Keogh)

Plan I: How innovation can help to grow the Economy

This session will look at how we can foster innovation for long term growth following Nesta's report in September. By being radical and putting innovation at the centre of policy, we will be arguing for a major shift of resources and attention towards innovation, and proposing new ideas based on current and future Nesta work.

Digital Education

In this session we will look at different ways in which we can inspire the next   generation to become confident producers of digital technologies as opposed to passive consumers. This session will mix case studies from organisations leading the way in teaching young people computing and digital making skills as well as hands on demonstrations of different products that enable anyone to get their hands dirty (metaphorically speaking) making apps, games, websites and more.
