Nesta Fellow Dr Bob Bloomfield has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's birthday honours list.
The Head of Special Projects and Innovation at the National History Museum was awarded the honour for services to science.
Dr Bloomfield was given a Nesta Fellowship in 2002 which he used to retrace the journey and discoveries of The Endeavour, Captain Cook's first Pacific expedition. The purpose of the journey was to assess the wider significance of Cook's expedition and discoveries while using new media to communicate to a new digital generation.
During the journey, Dr Bloomfield kept an online journal and the expedition was documented in a subsequent book, Wake of the Endeavour.
