What’s the big idea?

#techmums is a training programme that offers mums the chance to improve their digital skills.

Through a series of hands-on workshops, mums can learn everything from the basics of online security and social media, to more advanced training around app and web design.

Why we like Sue

#techmums is the latest success in Dr Sue Black's brilliant advocacy for women in computing. She is the founding chair of BCSWomen, a specialist group of the British Computer Society that offers support to women in IT.

She also leant her social media skills to a campaign to raise awareness and funds to save Bletchley Park, securing £600,000 for repairs to the park. She is currently writing a completely crowdfunded book about the campaign.

Sue is a senior research associate at University College London. She holds a PhD in Software Engineering from London South Bank University and was formerly head of the Information and Software Systems department at the University of Westminster.
