Knowledge transfer
Knowledge Transfer
Knowledge transfer is the exchange of information through networks. According to the DTI knowledge transfer is about "transferring good ideas, research results and skills between universities, other research organisations, business and the wider community to enable innovative new products and services to be developed". Knowledge transfer also takes place when existing information within a network is recombined in a new way. The role of knowledge transfer is central to the innovation process. Example: Silicon Valley.

The "KT" phrase needs to be pensioned off, just like "Public Understanding" (of Science). The first sentence gives it away "Knowledge transfer is the exchange of information through networks." It should be "Knowledge Exchange". That underlines the fact that it is a two-way process, not just a bunch of academics lobbing ideas over the wall.
