Data Visualisation Designer
Nesta is looking for a Data Visualisation Designer to work in its innovation mapping team in London.
Today more than ever it is critical that we are able to map innovation – to understand where the industries and ecosystems that generate new and valuable ideas are – as well as their drivers, so that we can put in place the right policies to support them, spurring sustainable growth.
We want to recruit a data visualisation designer to help drive forward the work in the Innovation Mapping team. Reporting to Juan Mateos-Garcia, Head of Innovation Mapping, the data visualisation designer will design and develop interactive data visualisations and dashboards as part of a team of data scientists, developers and economists.
The ideal candidate will have:
A demonstrable track record producing high quality, high impact interactive data visualisations and/or dashboards. The candidate should include in their CV or cover letter a link to their portfolio of work.
Demonstrable experience using open visualisation programming tools such as D3. Links to any evidence of this (e.g. GitHub repositories with code developed for other projects) is welcome.
Experience in the use of front-end web technologies and standards (HTML, CSS etc).
Experience in user research, UX and user interface design.
A strong degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Computer Science, Information Design, Design, Illustration).
Knowledge of open source programming languages relevant for data science such as those used by the team (e.g. Python, R). Desirable
An interest in the domain area where the Innovation Mapping team specializes: the emergence of new technologies, business innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity. Desirable.
