Innovations in modern healthcare

Researcher:

UCLH NHS Foundation Trust/Wellcome Trust

Description

This project will investigate the reality of medical innovation in the NHS, in particular the extent to which major medical innovations derive from formal research programmes or from more informal, day-to-day interactions between scientists and practitioners.

The findings will be used to inform health policymakers.

The project will be based mainly on the verbatim records and associated material of the Witness Seminar Programme run by the History of Twentieth Century Medicine Group at the Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine at University College London (UCL).
