Innovation Policy Toolkit
The Innovation Policy Toolkit is an introductory guide for people who want to know about innovation and the policies that help support it. It offers a mix of theory, examples, practical guidance and links to further information.
The Toolkit was designed in collaboration with the UK government’s Science and Innovation Network (SIN) and supported by the BIS International Knowledge and Innovation Unit. SIN officers are science and innovation policy professionals based in 28 countries around the world, tasked with building relationships to encourage cooperation in research and innovation that benefits both the UK and its global partners.
The toolkit is divided into three parts:
- Introduction to innovation policy and collaboration: Important concepts, latest thinking and debunking common myths
- Introduction to the UK innovation system: Simple user guide to the institutions, performance, & policies of the UK
- Tradecraft for innovation diplomats – a prototype: Drawing on emergent practices from the UK, this practical guide offers planning tools, checklists and ten case studies of how the Science and Innovation Network have supported innovation collaboration
