Gerard Darby

Gerard joined NESTA in January 2007. Prior to that, Gerard worked as a consultant to NESTA in enterprise education.

With a background in fostering enterprise, he has run a number of projects including the Coffeehouse Challenge, an innovative scheme to cultivate social enterprise in local communities. In 2002, he co-founded Head for Business: a business support programme that provides training, coaching and mentoring for young people starting businesses in the creative industries.

Gerard has written a number of publications including The Little Book for Big Ideas and Dare to Dream. He also co-edited Reinventing Education, a book that brings together the diverse views of 21 authors on how education could be made more relevant to today's world.

Gerard has a number of teaching qualifications and has run workshops on creative and lateral thinking.
