FutureFest 2018: Previews
Ahead of the fourth FutureFest this July, we’ll be publishing a series of blogs from speakers, contributors and partners who’ll be working with us to bring the festival to life.
Kicking us off, you can find thoughts from comedian, author and mental health campaigner, Ruby Wax, about how we might reconnect with our humanity in an isolated, tech-fixated culture. Meanwhile, FutureFest's lead curator, Pat Kane, discusses the rise of ‘new nationalism’ in politics, and Charles Leadbeater — a leading authority on innovation and creativity, who will be hosting a debate (The Great Escape) — writes about our collective love affair with escapism.
You can catch Charles at the festival on Saturday 7 July, speaking to Sarah Churchwell, Professor Ruth Levitas and Amrou Al-Kadhi about whether our urge to escape reality is a force for good or for ill. Check out our other speakers, the festival programme and get tickets on the FutureFest website.
