Why Nations Fail

Date: 08.03.2012 08:30 - 10:00

Location: NESTA, 1 Plough Place, London, EC4A 1DE

Why are some nations more prosperous than others?

James A. Robinson and Daron Acemoglu co-authors of the new book 'Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power, Prosperity and Poverty' argue that the answer to this question is not down to climate, geography or culture, but lies in the role of institutions.

Based on 15 years of research, Robinson and Acemoglu, blend economics, politics, history and current affairs to provide a new, persuasive and provocative way of understanding wealth and poverty within nations.

NESTA hosted a breakfast seminar to hear Stian Westlake, Executive Director of Policy and Research and James Robinson, Professor of Government, Harvard University discuss the books findings.
