Early Years Social Action Fund: Meet the grantees
During the earliest years, parents have a bigger influence on children's life chances than education, wealth or class. Future success is not determined by a parent or carer's job, income or situation, but by what happens in the home. Yet, over 30 per cent of children in the UK start school without having met the development milestones they need to do well.
That's why Nesta and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport launched the Early Years Social Action Fund, to support promising social action programmes that improve the confidence and ability of parents to help their children achieve their development milestones.
Across the next two years, we will work with five organisations to help many more families benefit from their approaches; mobilising many more volunteers to support parents and carers, and to deepen the sector's understanding about what works in supporting parents to help children get the best start in life.
