Dynamo Games
Description
Dynamo Games has created Mobi-Medic, a first aid guide which can be downloaded onto mobile phones, ensuring potentially life-saving information is always at hand.
Why we funded
As the worldwide mobile phone market continues to grow, this was an opportunity to create the first in a series of reference tools which deliver useful - in this case vital - knowledge to people in an accessible new way.
For £5, a mobile phone user can download the information, which is then stored permanently, to be at hand whenever needed.
The product has already earned the support of the British Red Cross, who say: "A little first aid knowledge can make all the difference in an emergency and this is a great way to make learning accessible and convenient. So many people have a mobile phone and this is the perfect way of carrying life-saving first aid advice with you at all times."
Impact
Since gaining NESTA's support through an Ideasmart award for innovation, Dynamo Games has gone on to secure a deal with the 3UK Network. Now available to millions of 3UK Network users, Mobi-Medic attracted 4,000 customers within the first three weeks of going on sale.
Dynamo Games' founder Brian McNicoll said: "The major network operators would never have taken such a small company seriously - NESTA's support gave us the credibility to take our concept to the mass market."
They also used the funding to develop further applications in the Mobi range. The company has since launched Mobi-Mechanic, a handy troubleshooting guide for motorists. Dynamo's range of Mobi applications can be found at www.mobi-family.com.
