Introduction
Creative businesses are increasingly important to the future of the UK. They represent a growing part of our economy. The new wealth and jobs they create help to replace those lost from declining industries. They also make a significant contribution to this country’s exports.
This has been recognised by policymakers at every level; from central government’s advocacy of the ‘creative industries’, to regional and local initiatives that seek to realise the benefits from this sector in their own communities.
