We're looking for three local areas across England to work with Nesta’s Health Lab and the Behavioural Insights Team to identify effective and innovative ways of mobilising people in social movements that improve health.
This is a unique opportunity for local organisations or partnerships that are passionate about their work and eager to grow their impact. We envisage selecting partner sites who aspire to one or more of the following goals:
- Helping health care. Creating clear routes for local citizens to help improve their local health and care services. This includes enabling people to volunteer in local services in ways that demonstrably add value. It also includes creating ways for communities to co-design and co-deliver services with health and care professionals.
- Helping one another. Creating opportunities for people to support one another to improve health and wellbeing. This includes creating peer-to-peer networks that give emotional and practical support and improve self-care. It also includes street and neighbourhood level community action that can, for example, enable citizens to support their older, isolated neighbours.
- Helping ourselves. Enabling people to better manage their own health and wellbeing. This includes applying behavioural insights to enable people to achieve sustainable self-management and increasing the uptake of social prescribing interventions. It may also include working with the health and care workforce to improve their health and wellbeing.
If you do any of the above, or would like support think about how to, we’d like to hear from you.
We welcome applications from partnerships and consortia based on existing collaborative work, or from individual organisations that have strong stakeholder and cross-sector relationships.
Becoming a local partner site will enable you to receive high quality support to enhance your own work, learn from other experienced sites across the country, influence the national agenda, and showcase your work on a national programme.
We will work with the selected sites to understand their local needs and assets, help to assemble a local coalition and identify innovative approaches, create an ambitious but achievable plan to build and embed social movements locally, develop a Behavioural Insight Framework and to ensure that local work is as sustainable as possible.
This is a programme funded by the Cabinet Office Social Action Team in partnership with Nesta and the Behavioural Insights Team.
