I can't remember the death of a business leader ever having quite the impact as that of Steve Jobs. Part of the reason is that he saw business as a means and not an end.
My guess is that although his death has not affected the markets it may have a profound effect on the company. Many have quoted his comment that death is life's change agent. But his passing may push his company to a much greater interest in health - and how to extend and improve life.
Healthcare continues to cry out for clear, simple, elegant and useable innovations of the kind that Apple brought to consumer electronics and computing.
There have been many candidates for a handheld device that could monitor your body, and guide you to the right choices, and there are hundreds of millions of people living with long-term conditions who could benefit. But none of the prototype technologies have made it to market on any serious scale. Apple is uniquely placed to get this right.
