SDC Breakthroughs for the 21st Century

Vicki Purewal - 02.03.2009

Two Big Green Challenge applicants have been shortlisted by The Sustainable Development Commission, Breakthroughs for the 21st Century project.

The Sustainable Development Commission are currently running a project called Breakthroughs for the 21st Century, and have published their shortlised ideas (top 40 out of 300) ideas online.

It good to see at least two Big Green Challenge applicants in the shortlist.  The Farm Energy Project and Project Dirt have both submitted ideas.   Some people have submitted ideas as individuals, so I may have missed others (sorry if I have).

The overall list includes quite diverse ideas, which have come from a range of sources, including individuals and groups of people from within academia, communities and government.

SDC are inviting comment on the shortlisted ideas by 6th March (this Friday).

It will be interesting to see what happens next on the Breakthroughs project - to see which ideas go through and what happens after they've been showcased in the summer.
