Givey

Givey uses social technologies like sms and Twitter to encourage people to support the causes they care about, track the impact they’re having and connect with other people who also want to make a difference.

Website:  www.givey.com

Givey is a social platform that will allow people to track and donate their time, stuff and money to over 6,000 charities in the UK through SMS and social networks. This information is collated on the users Givey Dashboard which they can share with their friends.

The first version of Givey was launched in May 2011 and was a revolutionary way to make Gift Aided micro-donations via SMS, Twitter and the web to over 6,000 charities. Following a year of intensive development, Givey 2.0 will launch at the Giving Summit on May 8th 2012 integrating all of the great new features to make it more fun to do good stuff for charities.

The Award: Givey have been awarded £50,000 to undertake further technical development of Givey, including Facebook integration, an API which will allow developers to produce their own integrations with Givey and integration with the Community Foundation Network to allow an additional 20,000 charities and community groups to benefit from Givey donations.
