Age UK Hackney, together with commonground, has developed a peer-to-peer advice and support service for men in their 50s and 60s.
This video explains the project in more detail and tells the story of how it was developed.
Forward Thinking offers older men social activities with their peers as well as support to help them plan for the future. The service aims to reduce dependence on public services and welfare benefits, by creating a peer-to-peer group where men can provide support and advice for each other.
A great example of co-creation in action, Forward Thinking was developed with a group of older men and tested with other men in the local community. Service users were also supported by Age UK Hackney to take part in the delivery of the service, as facilitators and ambassadors.
The service aims to help older men meet people in their local area, make more informed choices regarding their later years and share their own experiences in a supportive environment.
