Make it Local Scotland

We are working with 5 Scottish councils on our Make it Local Programme-  Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Orkney Islands.

The purpose of the programme is to show how new digital services can be created from open data sets provided by the councils and supported by a technology provider.

Each of the ideas have a practical focus for local residents- knowing which roads have been gritted in the snow and the local impact of snow on travel plans, being able to interact with the information about the green parks in a city whether you are a  dog walker, cyclist, jogger or family on a day out and tracking coastal erosion and its impact on historical monuments.

We hope that these ideas will be useful not only to the residents of these local authorities- but also to other local authorities who may wish to emulate these ideas.

The data for the content will be uploaded to data.gov.uk and the code for the digital service will be made freely available when it is available.

More information on the projects will be released as we progess. The finalised projects are expected to be ready by the Autumn.

Our first Make it Local programme resulted in the creation ofthree new services using library data, land ownership data and contact centre data. You can view the resulting three services here.
