Lowestoft Energy Challenge evaluation

As climate change rises up the political agenda and into public consciousness, it is clear that the places where we educate our children can play an important role in engaging young people with the climate change issue.

Young people are already well aware of environmental issues, with around six in 10 stating that they are worried about climate change and as many as 90 per cent believing that their school can take action to help tackle climate change.

Nonetheless, without specific support young people often have difficulty in getting involved with the agenda.

The Lowestoft Energy Challenge began with a focus on developing enterprise capabilities and building knowledge and understanding of energy, sustainability and climate change.

The evaluation finds that the programme has successfully encouraged young people to engage with the energy agenda in an innovative way.
