Animations in Therapy

Organisation: Exeter Phoenix
Funding: £10,000

This project will build on the work of an experienced therapist, Helen Mason, who is exploring the therapeutic potential of animation for vulnerable children and families.

Helen is interested in how animation can be used to create a unique, non-verbal, creative environment to support children with identified mental health needs.

Initial funding from NESTA will allow for proof-of-concept of the innovative idea, and will focus on the creation of a detailed business plan for a potential large-scale project. This will involve the development of a toolkit and website to support work with vulnerable children and their families; a sustainable business model; and dissemination of the approach and learnings. Helen will be working on a freelance basis with Exeter Phoenix, an arts and media centre based in the heart of Exeter.
