Web Science Research Initiative

Led by World Wide Web inventor, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the Web Science Research Initiative works to inform the future development of the web – and explore its potential as an enabler of innovation.

The Web Science Research Initiative (WSRI) aims to:

  • understand the scientific, technical and social factors that drive the growth of the web;
  • provide a global forum for academia, government and industry to collaborate and study the development of the web; and
  • develop a curriculum to train future generations of researchers on web science.

WRSI is a joint endeavour between the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT, and the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton.
