Innovation in Giving Fund backs 16 new projects

A service that lets people share extra portions of food and a scheme enabling charity donations through contactless payment cards are among the 16 new ideas to secure funding through the Innovation in Giving Fund.

The £10m fund, run by Nesta and funded by the Cabinet Office, supports innovative new ideas with the potential to radically increase the giving of time, money, assets, skills - or all of the above.

Successful projects must demonstrate the potential to engage lots more people in giving, whether by making it more convenient or fun, using technology, harnessing untapped assets, or otherwise.

Each of the 16 new projects will receive up to £50,000 in funding, alongside a package of non-financial support to help them test, refine and scale their ideas.
