Grandparents who care for their grandchildren are more likely to experience poverty and poor health and wellbeing.
This service is being developed to support lower income grandparents that already provide informal childcare, through a reward scheme with retailers to provide them with discounts and financial incentives to boost their income and strengthen their ability to support their grandchildren.
The scheme is likely to be a combination of website-based rewards and a social club. It is being developed by Grandparents Plus and a group of grandparents who are helping to design and test the scheme.
The small boost to disposable income and the recognition of the contribution of users will have a positive effect on grandparents' self-worth, wellbeing and wealth.
