Starter for 6

Starter for 6 is a highly successful enterprise training programme that supports up-and-coming creative entrepreneurs across Scotland.

Between 2007 and 2009, we supported around 210 creative individuals, providing them with a tailored business support package including enterprise training, peer mentoring and grants of up to £10,000. We have had some fantastic results and have proven that this is a successful framework for supporting creative start-ups.

Drawing from our experience with Starter for 6, we created a Creative Enterprise Toolkit for creative individuals considering starting up a business; also lecturers and those who support creative start-ups. The toolkit is a step-by-step interactive resource - a collection our knowledge, activities, case studies and insights from the programme. You can find out more about the toolkit, here

As a result of the success of Starter for 6, the Scottish Government, through Creative Scotland, confirmed its funding commitment to run the Starter for 6 programme from 2009 - 2012.

Starter for 6 is now managed and delivered by Cultural Enterprise Office, experts in supporting the development of creative businesses and practitioners across Scotland.
