Response to Cable's speech at CBI Conference

The following is a response to Vince Cable’s Speech at the CBI conference, 19 November 2012.

Louise Marston, head of innovation and economic growth, Nesta, "This morning Vince Cable has set out a commitment to long term growth; proposals that rely on innovation and investment in new products, processes and ways of doing things.

"We welcome the call for quality infrastructure and investment in human capital, things we recognised as essential to UK competitiveness and growth in 'Plan I', Nesta's plan for innovation-led growth. But these should be 21st Century skills - like coding and programming - and 21st Century infrastructure - such as super-fast broadband.  We can also use challenge prizes and government's role as a lead customer and a buyer of innovation more effectively to address industry and social challenges."
